Ok, so here's my first real blog.  This is my current project that I've been working on.  My gramma saw this pattern from in a magazine, American Patchwork & Quilting, can't remember which issue, I'll have to find that later.  She got the idea that me, her and my mom all do our own rendition of the quilt.  Needless to say it's been a couple years since we've started, lol.  I'm about half way through mine, I'm working on all the applique blocks.  Gramma is probably about half way through too.  And mom, well she's still thinking about it.  YUP, I just called my mom out.  LOL.  Anyway, I love working with batik fabrics so I had to do this in all batiks.  I saved the applique blocks til last because I'm not that great at it, but since I've been working on them I've gotten a little better.  Here's a glimpse on what it's going to look like.  Please leave me a message and let me know what you think.

  1. Hi Jennifer,
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for becoming a follower to my blog. Congratulations on starting one of your own...it's the best thing I have ever done. The quilt in this post is just beautiful...love the colors.
In your first post, you had asked what to include in your blog. I've realized that just talk about anything that you are doing or are interested in. People are so kind and love to see what people are doing even the simplest of things.
One bit of advice, it helps to get responses back from other bloggers from the comments that you leave. Just make sure you're not set to "no reply" on your profile. If you want to check if you are, leave me a comment on my blog on any post and I can check for you. If it's set to "no reply" another blogger can't comment back to you.
Have fun with your new blog.
    ~Karen~

  2. Hi Jennifer
I noticed you joined my blog, so I thought I'd pop over and see what you're up to.
I love the quilt you're making. Can't wait to see it finished. I've done challenge quilts before, and it always interests me how different the quilts look based on the fabrics and how they're used.
I've joined your blog, it will be fun sharing with you,
    Linda

  3. Thanks for the welcom Karen and Linda. This is all new so its a big learning curve what to do with a blog. I've had assignments in the past during my school days to keep a log or "diary" of things I do on a daily basis but I never got into it because I never really had anything to write other than "I did my homework" or "went out with friends", lol. But now that I have hobbies now I can start sharing with others. Since I started my Facebook site I have found there's a LOT of people out there that have the same interests as you and love to share. So I look forward to sharing my journeys with everyone.

  4. Here's an update on the pattern. It's from American Patchwork & Quilting, August 2007 issue. Pattern is called "Cottage Charm", which is the quilt on the cover.

  5. Hi Jennifer,
I received your email and it is set to "no reply", so when I or anyone clicks on reply back to you there is no email address. I'm glad we did this test. If you want to change it so your email address is showing, go to my blog and on the right side bar where it says Labels, scroll down to where it says No Reply. Click on that and there are 2 posts that I did a while back explaining how to correct it.
You also asked how to respond back to my comments on your blog. Well, when I first started my blog, I set up a gmail account just for blogging (not part of my family email). That way all the email that comes into my gmail account is just from other's blog comments. When you or anyone else comments, it goes to my gmail inbox, I read the comment and then click reply in the upper right corner and then the email goes back to you. The box at the bottom that you were talking about is just comments that go to you for that particular post. When you wrote the 2 comments on this post, they only stayed here..they didn't go back "to" anyone.
As another test, leave me another comment on my blog after you changed your profile setting and we'll see if it worked.
I hope this isn't too confusing. Ask me anything if you want, I know what it's like to first start out.
    Karen
ps, when this email thing works, you will then be emailing people through their email address and your email address, not through this comment section.

  8. Hi Jennifer,
I also just saw you have joined my blog. It is fun to have followers from the northern hemisphere. I love the colours in your quilt - perfect project for spring - it reminds me of daffodils! I also love your spring photos - another hobby of mine too. It seems funny as we are just heading into autumn with all the trees changing colour.
    Happy quilt blogging
    Julianne.
